Travel Safety & Advice

Travel Safety & Advice
We want you to enjoy your holiday and of course, an essential part of that is that you are not unduly concerned about safety. We recommend that you check with the Foreign and Commonwealth office website for their most recent advice about travelling to various regions around the world. You can find their latest article here

TRAVEL INSURANCE
Please ensure that you have current travel insurance and that it covers you in the event of illness, accident or emergency whilst you enjoy your holiday. Be sure to check the small-print for exceptions and if you have any doubts, check directly with your insurers before you travel

SOCIAL MEDIA
In these days of being connected wherever you go and it being so easy to share photos of your good times. Please keep in mind, there are people who may glean other information from your happy photographs. Such as, the fact that you are away from home for an extended period. To the criminal fraternity, your status on social media sites can be a treasure trove of information useful for targeting your property whilst you are away. Think about keeping your travel plans private and maybe only posting your holiday photos after you have returned home.

HIRING CARS ABROAD
Hiring a car is of course in many cases an essential aspect of your trip. Please note that criminals know this as well. They often have spotters at airports who watch the hire-car procedure and pass this information on. When you are travelling to your accommodation, they know that you are often stressed, tired and unfamiliar with your surroundings and that you will have all of your holiday money and valuable goods with you. That is when you are most likely to make an error of judgement. We hear so many stories of tourists just stopping in to the local supermarket to pick up provisions on the way to their accommodation and subsequently having all their valuables and passports stolen before they even arrive at their destination. This can ruin your holiday before it has started. Be alert for other vehicles following you as you leave the airport. Also be aware of diversion tactics in car parks, people asking directions or appearing to need help in any way.
